I have a No. 1 Story to tell.
It was a Sept. Day in 1998 when my Daughter Darlin, was sent to the hospital to induce her labor due to complications in the pregnancy. 5 days went by, with countless attemps to induce leading nowhere. Her midwife had left town as well as her Gynocologist. She spent those days in total misery, waiting for someone to do something and undergoing constant monitoring.
Finally her OBGYN came back. He promised that she would have the baby “That Day” So around 5:00 pm, he returned and they had decided to do a C-Section. He gives her a stack of papers to sign,
one of them stating that the hospital/dr. would not be responsible if she died or had a stroke, or whatever.
At that moment I realized she could actually die. They got her prepped and off she went. I was left in her room, crying and praying. My son came in and gave me a big hug and we prayed together that she and the baby would be okay.
45 minutes or so later, out comes my son-in-law holding a tiny tiny bundle and wearing a BIG GRIN. The first thing I said was “Is she Okay” and he said, yes. Then I said “Man, you can never doubt that boy is yours!” He looked at me kinda funny, and I said, Good Grief, he Looks Just Like You! (Im talking Clone Here)
Then comes the OB nurse chasing him (he was NOT supposed to leave the OR until they had done some more tests on JJ.) They chewed him out and then measured the baby and all that stuff (he was all of 5.9 oz.)
A bit later Darlin was moved to her room and we spoke a bit and I decided to let her get some rest and took off to go tell my husband that every thing was okay.
Getting to my car, I had to pray and then cry some more. Then I went to drive down to the pit to tell Papa all was well. As I start down the hill, over the Pit is the biggest, most beautiful Rainbow I had ever seen. One of those Double rainbows. I stopped the car, and sat there looking at it. In my mind, it was and has always been a sign from God that JJ and Darlin would be fine, you know, like Gods Promise Fulfilled. I continued down with a full heart and a Big Smile.
At another time, maybe I will tell the story of who else might have been involved in that rainbow.
